Fine Fooding!

3 guys at 5 guys!

Posted by roggen under Fooding

Went to “Five Guys Burgers and Fries” for Lunch yesterday.  I have been there a few times.  They are okay.  The burger always seems fresh and hot.  The fries are good for fresh cut.  I had them Cajun style this time, which was a good choice.  They do have lots of toppings to choose from.  I had mine with Jalapenos, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and A1 sauce.   They are not on the top of my list for good eats, but they are still on the list of places I will go.

Chu chu mama chu’s!

Went to Mama Chu’s for lunch.  Nice little place just at the mouth of Provo canyon.  They have  daily lunch special that makes them a good choice for a cheep lunch.  I had the Bean and Beef Burrito today.  Very good for only 5.00!

There is not much parking around the place.  Sometimes you have to park on the street.  That is a good sign if you ask me.

You get chips and very good salsa while you wait for your food.

And the meal comes fast and has always been good.

Don’t jerk me around

I had to do a quick lunch today, so I jumped on the Ol’ iPhone and did a search in Yelp for somewhere to eat.  TheJerkShack came up as one of the hits, and there were a couple of favorable reviews of the place, so I decided to give it a try.  Since I have never had “Authentic Jamaican” food before I made the jaunt there.  Upon finding the place I Parked and headed to the window.  After deciding on the Combo plate I rang to doorbell for service.  I was promptly met by the man behind the counter.  He made a few suggestions and the order went in.  He quickly made the plate of food and got me a soda.

I took my food and sat at the table next to the “shack” and grabbed a few quick shots with the iPhone.

The combo plate came with Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pork, Red beans and Rice.  The overall taste of the food was good.  And I think it was mostly healthy for me too.  It seemed that the rice was brown rice, which my wife keeps trying to get me to eat.  If she did it like this I might eat more of it.  I would have liked a little more sauce, so that I could put it on the rice as well, but next time I will know to ask.  There was a smoker behind the shack so I am assuming the meat was smoked in it.

Over all the experience was good.  I think this place is a better Spring and Fall local as there is only outdoor seating.  But it would be easy to swing by and do the drive through thing.

Thanks for the fooding JerkShack! Their website is located here: http://thejerkshack.blogspot.com/ They have their Menu on the site.

Hotdog!

Charlie’s Hotdog King!  I have been here a few times now, and every time I have been impressed with what I have gotten.  The menu is quite extensive.  There are more choices than you can shake a stick at.  They also have a daily deal: $7 for a foot long with Drink and side.

Pizza in Orem

Posted by roggen under Fooding

First fooding post of the day. Went to a little wood fired pizza place today in Orem.  It is a little place called Pizzeria Seven Twelve.  And I have to say that it was fantastic.  I am a huge fan of wood fired pizza and this place ranks right up there with the best of them.  It would be easy to miss this local as it is not very vissible from State Street.  I am glad that I was invited to hit this local for lunch with a co-worker!

The pizza was a total fooding experience.  And the setting is nice as well.  We were ushered into the dining room and showed to a table.  We were promply brought a plate of fresh Pita and Humus (great) and a bottle of water was left at the table.  The lunch menu is quite simple.  I parused the menu and made the dessision to get the “Speck” pizza.  Which was a simple pizza of Speck, soppresata, garlic and mozzarella.  Nothing complicated there but all good!  The pizza quickly was delived to the table and the festival of flavor began.  Upon first bite I knew I would be enjoying every bite.  Which I did.

I recommend Pizzeria 712 as a fooding find.

You can find them on the web at http://www.pizzeria712.com/

or in the real world at:

320 South State Street #185
