Fine Fooding!

Pizza for MasterD78!

Posted by roggen under Fooding

Took the fam for some dinner tonight. Thought we would try out the new diggs at Jordan Landing. Santa Monica Pizza and Pasta.

I am re-visiting this one to say that it was not as good as it could have been.  It had such potential but just didn’t live up.  We ordered a small pizza, a calzone and some tomato bread.  The bread came out first and was pretty good.  Next the Hawaiian Pizza, which was just ok.  Finally they brought us the calzone which I had high hopes for.  When I cut it in half it was not even close to what I was expecting.  It was loaded with chicken, white sauce and mushrooms.  FAIL!  I had ordered one with Peperoni, sausage, onion, green peppers and marinara sauce.  I grabbed the server and tried to explain what was wrong.  She said she would get us the right one.  A few seconds later I realized I forgot to tell her “no mushrooms” so I went to clarify.  When I finally found someone to talk to, she said to would look into it.

A few mins later another calzone came to the table.  I cut into it hoping it would be good.  Bam, mushrooms.  FAIL!  By this time I was just not happy.  So we cut the thing in half, picked out the shrooms and ate what we could.  A few mins later another one came out from the kitchen.  I just told the server to take it back.  We packed our things and left.

Not sure I will be able to bring myself to give the place a second try.  I usually give places a 3 strike grace!

Fooding not a win.

Naan, Naan and more Naan!

As many of you may know I am a big fan of Indian food.  So it was recomended that we try a place in Herndon, Va.  And this place has some great fooding!

We picked our poison and placed the order.  Such good choices were made!

We got a combo plate as an appetizer which had so many good tastes on it!  One of which was a very hot pepper!

We ordered 3 different types of Naan 2 that I normally get and one that was new to me.  It was so good.  It had cherries, almonds and brown sugar inside!  So tasty!  Sadly I didn’t take a pic of it.  But I did get some of the foods!  So good, so fooding!

A burger in the East!

Posted by roggen under Fooding

Fooding in Virginia brought me an my coworkers to a local burger joint called Foster’s Grille.  I feel that it was a good burger.  I like he you just enter and grab a pad menu and write circle what you want.

The decor seems different than most places like this, I was a little surprised to see a car upside down on the ceiling.

After waiting a little bit the food was brought to the table.  I got the Cheese burger and Fries.  Both were good.  The only thing that could have been better is if they were to wire brush the grill a little more.  I like open flame but it needs to be done right.  The burger quality was very good though.  The fries are fresh cut and good.  I think they must double fry them to get them the way they do.

But if you are in Virginia feel free to check it out.

Whoa, that is MO!

Mo’ Bettah Steaks is one of our favorite quick eats places.  The fooding is simple and very tasty.  The menu doesn’t have a lot of choices, but what they do have is fantastic!

I tend to always go with the Pulehu Steak with rice and their secret Macaroni Salad!  Then once at the table I douse the rice with their amazing Teryaki sauce!  I have never been disappointed with any thing that I have ordered.

One of the favorite things to get is the Shaved Ice.  I used to only be served during the warmer months but they are going to keep it longer this year.  I love it with a snow cap!  Try it and love it!

Meet you at Mo’s!

An OSFie but a goodie!

The Old Spaghetti Factory, a place we have been going to for years.  This night was about the same as any other night at the OSF.  Not especially good but never bad.

We tend to order the same things each time.  I do the Potpourri with Clam, Mizitira Cheese, Meat Sauce and Marinara.

Kori got the Chicken Parm.  Which is always a good choice.

As always we got the standard Spumoni Ice cream at the end.

When ever there is a time when you are not sure what you want to eat, OSF is always a good choice.

Good Fooding!

So I have been to Ruth’s Chris a few times and it is always good. I have to say that I don’t even mind paying the price for dinner every once in a while.

This time we had the dinner special which come with Soup Main Dish and Dessert. All of which were fantastic. I didn’t take too many pics as I didn’t want to annoy people with the flash, but the food was good as always.

Game, set, Settabello!

Posted by roggen under Fooding

Kori and I kicked off a weekend long event of celebrating our 11th anniversary.  We dropped the kids off at the parents and headed for a weekend out on the town.

First stop, Settabello, a small pizzeria in SLC located next to the RedRock Brewery.  We have been here a few times and the food is always good.

We started off with the Fococcia as an appetizer.  This is a pizza crust that has been cooked in the wood fired oven and then the apply olive oil and italian spices to it.  Very good!

Next came the Main course.  I had the Pizza Diavola and Kori had the Pizza Margaretta.  Both are excellent choices.  I prefer the Diavola as it has a little kick to it.

You can see the different peppers and Sausages on the pizza and the crust is as good as I remember from eating at little pizzerias in Italy.

And if you still have room after this great meal you can order Gellato from the little Gellatoria that is next door.

Top notch food and the price is very reasonable.

Oktoberfest, eins zwei saufe!

Posted by roggen under Fooding

Oktoberfest happens every year up at Snowbird.  We try to make it every year, as I am such a big fan of German food.  It is always a good time.  The food, music and best of all the Chicken dance!  We usually take the tram to hear the alp horns play, but this year we didn’t make it in time.  Maybe next year.

Welcome to Oktoberfest!

The food was good as always!  I love getting the Rouladen.  The only thing missing is the traditional pickle inside, but it is still good!  And the wurst is always a crowd pleaser.

Rouladen and Sauerkraut

Weisswurst and Sauerkraut

Bratwurst and Sauerkraut with the Schwarzwalder Torte!

Feel free to join us next year, or if you really want, it is still going on for two weekends more.
